Moon of the Misbegotten by Eugene O’Neill
22nd October 2024 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm
A Moon for the Misbegotten is the sequel to A Long Day’s Journey into Night.
It was Eugene O’Neill’s final play with the lead character based on his older brother. It revolves around three characters. Josie, a domineering Irish woman with a quick tongue and a ruined reputation, her conniving father, tenant farmer Phil Hogan, and James Tyrone, Jr., Hogan’s landlord and drinking companion, a cynical alcoholic haunted by the death of his mother. When James drunkenly jokes that he is going to sell his farm and evict Hogan, Hogan comes up with a plan to blackmail Tyrone, which doesn’t turn out as he hoped.
