Moonlight on Water is a memory play; a memory of a time when people sought complete personal freedom, little realising the consequences of their actions. It is filled with the people, music and incidents of the past that haunt the main character. Some are happy memories he embraces fully; other memories force their way into his consciousness against his will. Music is an integral part of that memory, invoking emotions and images. The play reflects a journey from his own perceptions of events through to a truth that he cannot accept. But is what he sees the absolute truth or just his present view of it?
