On its surface, the play is a simple story of two men waiting at the side of a country road for someone called Godot who never arrives. They converse and amuse themselves whilst waiting and encounter other characters who come along the road. However, this simple play was a groundbreaking innovation in theatre, touching on profound themes of existence and what it means to be human.

In stripping back the play to its barest elements, Beckett created a unique commentary on life's most important questions while at the same time giving us a wonderfully funny and touching story of two friends coping with the absurdity of their situation.

The rehearsal period will run from March-May 2020.

GEDS encourages everyone to audition for its shows at all levels of experience. Our directors are looking for people who bring their own unique life experiences to the role. Mother tongue and nationality need not prevent you being cast; even age or gender can sometimes be flexible according to the needs of the play. GEDS serves a diverse international community and we aspire to reflect that richness in our activities and events.
